Fireworks

Too far away to be seen

Much too close not to be heard

The roaring thunder of celebration

Bubbles about my exhausted ears

Memories of childhood

Spending this holiday on the lake

Watching exploding stars

And their reflections

My grandfather

Our music

But now I live in the country

Some call it the middle of nowhere

Hearing the sounds of celebration

That don’t show themselves to me

  1. Bravo! A good celebration in a post and a lovely memoir.
