On Light

Pouring in through closed eyelids and sleep:

a gentle forked tongue laps and flickers out of sight

slowly spreading warmth across my resting brain;

colours explode; kaliedascopes infinite ignite

through toes and tingling knees past all forms of sight.

Sunshine dulled yet seen more clearly

when taught to listen with eyes closed
